Unique in the world
The manufacturing technique was developed by WireStyle in Karlsruhe, Germany, and is unique in the world. There is no picture hidden behind the string!
Various formats
In larger formats, more nails and a longer string are used. This makes the string art picture more detailed and faces are easier to recognize.

FAQ - String art picture
Frequently asked questions about the string art picture
How and where are the string art pictures produced?
All WireStyle string art pictures are manufactured in Karlsruhe in Germany, where we carry out all production steps in a small hall. The nails are hammered in and the strings are pulled by two robots that we developed ourselves. The frames are also sawn and screwed together by us. Packaging and shipping also take place in our small hall near Karlsruhe. The entire string art picture is therefore 100% “Made In Germany”.
The base plates are also produced and sawn in Germany and our shipping boxes are also produced in Germany.
What does a WireStyle picture consist of?
A WireStyle string art picture consists exclusively of nails and a string on a white plastic sheet made of pure polystyrene, i.e. completely non-toxic and without plasticizers. There is no hidden print behind the image - the image is only created by the string. We use a single, continuous string for the entire image, which runs through the entire motif.
The string is made of polyester and is therefore about as tear-resistant as a nylon string. This makes the picture much more stable than when using a cotton thread. Despite the thin string, this ensures that it cannot tear.
The nails are made of a special aluminum-titanium alloy, which means they remain 100% rust-free forever and cannot tarnish.
If you order a wood-effect background, we cover the panel with a wood-effect foil from the furniture sector.
The frame is made of brushed, matt black aluminum and is firmly attached to the picture. The frame also offers the option of hanging the picture securely on one or two nails or screws.
The frame connectors, with which the frame is screwed to the back of the string art picture, are made of galvanized steel and are screwed together with steel screws. This ensures that the frame is extremely firmly attached to the picture, but can be unscrewed if necessary, e.g. if another frame is to be mounted.
Can the string break?
The string is made of polyester and is as tear-resistant as a nylon string. The string will not break on its own. The picture can even be vacuumed with a vacuum cleaner without damaging the string or the nails, and even if you cut the picture from the outside with scissors, it will not fall apart, only a few short pieces of string will hang out, as the string is very tightly woven. Just as a sweater does not fall apart if it gets a hole, if the picture is damaged, we can usually repair it. Just write us a message via the chat (bottom left) and send us a few photos. If the repair is quick, we'll do it for free.
Are cats a problem for the string art pictures?
We have often received inquiries from worried cat owners before the first purchase, but we are not actually aware of any cases where a cat has broken a picture. If you stroke the picture, you can only feel the blunt nail heads. The string is laid approximately in the middle of the nails and cannot be felt from the outside. The cats are probably not interested in the picture as it is not easy to “claw” into it. The nail heads are also so blunt on the top that the cat cannot injure itself.
And if the picture does get damaged: This case is also covered by our 100% satisfaction guarantee, i.e. we will take the picture back for one month after purchase and refund the money.
How can I keep the string art picture clean?
Within the first year, dust will not normally be visible on the strings. Should it become dusty at some point, you can vacuum the entire surface with a vacuum cleaner and an upholstery nozzle. It is important that you use a wide vacuum cleaner nozzle without bristles and run it over the nails without applying pressure. The lowest setting on the vacuum cleaner is perfectly adequate.
If the white base plate or the wooden decor is dirty, you can simply wipe it with a microfiber cloth or soft cotton cloth and a little soapy water or window cleaner.

How big is the frame? Are there also smaller/larger pictures?
The sizes indicated refer to the frame. The nail-free area around the motif is approx. 5 cm wide, i.e. the motif is approx. 10 cm smaller than the frame.
We currently only offer our string art pictures in the sizes offered on the website. We are planning larger formats for the future. If you are interested in a larger format, please contact us!
Are there other string colors?
We offer a black and a white string as standard. These have the highest contrast and the string art pictures look the most realistic. For special motifs such as company logos, we can also use a colored string. Please contact us via the chat (bottom left) or the contact form for more information.
Is a string art picture suitable as a gift?
A string art picture from WireStyle is a great gift for weddings, birthdays or special occasions. Most people have never seen a photorealistic string art picture before and are therefore very surprised. And if, contrary to expectations, the recipient does not like the picture, we will take it back free of charge, even with individual motifs, thanks to our 100% satisfaction guarantee !
FAQ - Configurator
Frequently asked questions about the configurator
How accurate is the preview in the configurator?
The exact positions of the nails and the course of the string are only determined during production. The configurator therefore does not provide an exact preview, but comes very close to the final image. From a distance of approx. 2-3 meters, you can hardly see any difference between the configurator and the real string art picture.
Deviations may occur with small fonts or thin lines, as the configurator has been optimized for photos. If these fine details are important to you, please send us the image in advance for review.
If you book processing by our graphic designer, we will send you an exact preview of your string art picture in advance for approval. This will show every nail and the exact course of the string path.
What is the minimum resolution of the source image?
A resolution of 1200x800 pixels is sufficient for small and large images, for panorama formats approx. 1500 pixels on the long side are sufficient for the best possible quality. If you are unsure, you can send us the image in advance for review via the support chat. Images in small and large format are automatically cropped by the configurator to an aspect ratio of 2:3, panoramas to approx. 16:7. The files must be uploaded as .jpg or .png and must not exceed 20 megabytes in size and 20 megapixels. It does not matter whether the image is uploaded in black and white or color, we will convert it automatically.
How well can faces be recognized on the string art picture?
The nails are always about 5 mm apart. The more faces there are in a picture and the smaller the faces are, the fewer nails can be used per face. To ensure that the faces are easily recognizable, a maximum of 2-3 faces should be shown in a small format picture, approx. 4-5 faces in a large format picture and approx. 7-8 faces can be shown next to each other in a panorama. To do this, the faces should be as close together as possible and the image should be zoomed in as close as possible to the faces. If the faces are next to each other, the landscape format is more suitable; if the faces are on top of each other, the portrait format is more suitable in order to be able to depict the faces as large as possible. For photos with high-contrast faces, more faces can sometimes be depicted and still be easily recognizable. The configurator shows a good preview of what will later be recognizable in the string art picture. However, this does not reflect the later string art picture 100% correctly. However, you can assume that all details that are not clearly and unambiguously recognizable in the configurator will also not be recognizable in the later string art picture. If you are unsure whether your picture is suitable as a string art picture, you are welcome to send it to us via the support chat (chat icon at the bottom left), we will take a look at it and give you our opinion.
How can I create areas without nails in the image?
If you do not want there to be any nails in the background, for example, this area of the image must be made transparent. This can be done in most image editing programs (such as Photoshop) by masking and removing these areas (clipping via alpha channel). The image must then be saved as a .png file and uploaded. Alternatively, you can also book editing by our graphic designer, who will then remove the background for you. If the image consists of individual elements, such as the letters of a logo, these will later be connected with strings. Otherwise, we cannot create the motif from a single string. The configurator cannot show where these connecting lines are located.
FAQ - Shipping
Frequently asked questions about shipping
How long does shipping take?
The configurator always shows the current shipping date for individual motifs. We usually have pre-produced motifs in stock and can ship them within a few days. Further details can be found under delivery time and shipping.
I need the picture very urgently!
If it has to be done quickly, e.g. for weddings or birthdays, our configurator offers express production. We then take it into our night shifts to complete it within a few days. The valid shipping date in this case is then displayed directly in the configurator. If you need the picture even faster, please contact us via the chat (bottom left). We will try to make everything possible!
How is the string art picture packaged?
We pack each string art picture individually. We have developed a special shipping packaging that is tailored to the string art picture with millimeter precision so that nothing can slip or press on the nails during transport. The packaging is made of very sturdy cardboard and is 100% plastic-free.
FAQ - Hanging
Frequently asked questions about hanging up
What is the ideal viewing distance?
If you stand directly in front of the picture, you will mainly notice the nails and the string. If you want to perceive the motif as a whole, you should stand at a distance of approx. 2-3 meters. From a distance of 4 meters, most people can no longer see the strings and think the image is a black and white photo.
The nail density is the same for all formats, i.e. we always use the same number of nails per surface. The viewing distance from which the motif looks like a black and white photo is therefore independent of the image size.
The larger the format, the higher the number of nails used and the length of the string. This makes the image appear sharper and details can be reproduced better.
How should the picture be illuminated?
Diffuse light directly from the front is best. Then the strings cast a natural, soft shadow on the background. The details then look most realistic. This means that the ideal hanging location is opposite a window, for example. If this is not possible, it is best to light the picture from several directions to avoid casting strong shadows.
If the string art picture is illuminated with a single spotlight, the strings cast sharp shadows on the panel, which can cause contrast lines in the picture to have double contours and the string art picture to appear somewhat blurred. This can look very interesting with abstract motifs, but with faces the facial features become somewhat less recognizable. However, if the faces are large enough, they are still easy to recognize.
Are the pictures ready framed?
All pictures always come with a frame made of matt black aluminum. The frame has two integrated hanging rails on the back, which can be used to hang the picture at two slightly different heights directly on nails or screws.
The frame is screwed together in the corners with steel brackets. We also use a small amount of adhesive between the panel and the frame to prevent it from slipping.
How are the pictures hung?
The pictures can be hung directly on nails or screws using the hanging strips integrated into the frame. Each picture comes with two nails, two screws and two dowels. However, you can also use your own nails or screws.
