Unique worldwide
The manufacturing technique was developed by WireStyle in Karlsruhe and is unique in the world. Most people react with astonishment to our thread pictures because they have never seen anything like it.
Our prefacricated motifs

Various formats
In larger formats, more nails and a longer thread are used, so that details can be reproduced better. The more people there are in the picture, the larger the format should be.

FAQ - thread picture
Frequently asked questions about the thread picture
What does a WireStyle image consist of?
A WireStyle thread picture consists exclusively of nails and thread on a white plastic sheet made of pure polystyrene, ie completely non-toxic and without plasticizers. There is no print hidden behind the picture - the picture only comes about through the thread. For the entire image, we use a single, continuous thread that runs through the entire motif.
The thread is made of polyester and is therefore about as tear-resistant as a nylon thread. As a result, the image is much more stable than when using a cotton thread. Despite the thin thread, this ensures that it cannot tear.
The nails are made of a special aluminium-titanium alloy, which means that they always remain 100% rust-free and cannot tarnish.
If you order a wood decor background, we will cover the panel with a wood-look film from the furniture sector.
The frame is made of brushed, matt black aluminum and is firmly attached to the picture. The frame also offers the option of hanging the picture securely on one or two nails or screws.
The frame connectors, with which the frame is screwed on the back of the thread picture, are made of galvanized steel and are screwed on with steel screws. This ensures that the frame is extremely firmly connected to the picture, but can be unscrewed if necessary, for example if a different frame is to be mounted.
Can the thread break?
The thread is made of polyester and is tear-resistant like a nylon thread. The thread will not tear by itself. The picture can even be vacuumed with a vacuum cleaner without harming the thread or nails.
Even if you cut the picture from the outside with scissors, it doesn't fall apart, only a few short pieces of thread hang out because the thread is very tightly woven. Just like a sweater won't fall apart if it gets a hole.
If the image is damaged, we can usually fix it. Just write us a message via the chat (bottom left) and send us some photos. If the repair is quick, we'll do it for free.
Are cats a problem for the thread pictures?
We have often received inquiries from concerned cat owners before making their first purchase, but in fact we are not aware of any case where a cat has broken a picture. If you stroke over the picture, you can only feel the blunt nailheads. The thread is laid approximately in the middle of the nails and cannot be felt from the outside. The cats are probably not interested in the picture because you can't "claw" it easily. The nail heads are also so blunt on the top that the cat cannot injure itself.
And if the picture does become damaged: This case is also covered by our 100% satisfaction guarantee, which means we will take the picture back one month after purchase and refund the money.
How can I keep the thread image clean?
Usually no dust is visible on the threads within the first year. If it gets dusty at some point, you can vacuum the entire surface with a vacuum cleaner and an upholstery nozzle. It is important that you use a wide vacuum cleaner nozzle without bristles and that you drive over the nails without pressure. The lowest level of the vacuum cleaner is completely sufficient.
If the white base plate or the wood decor is dirty, you can easily wipe it off with a microfiber cloth or soft cotton cloth and some soapy water or window cleaner.
How big is the frame? Are there also smaller/larger pictures?
The sizes given refer to the frame. The nail-free area around the motif is approx. 5 cm wide, ie the motif is approx. 10 cm smaller than the frame.
We currently only offer our thread pictures in the sizes offered on the website. We are planning larger formats for the future. If you are interested in a larger format, please write to us!
Are there other thread colors?
We offer a black and a white thread as standard. These have the highest contrast and the thread images look the most realistic as a result. We can also use colored thread for special motifs such as company logos. Please contact us via chat (bottom left) or contact form for more information.
Is a thread picture suitable as a gift?
A thread picture from WireStyle is a great gift, for example for weddings, birthdays or special occasions. Most people have never seen a photorealistic thread painting and are therefore very amazed. And if, contrary to expectations, the recipient does not like the picture, we will take it back free of charge, even with individual motifs, thanks to our 100% satisfaction guarantee !
FAQ - configurator
Frequent questions about the configuration of the images
What is there to consider with the configurator?
With the configurator you can upload your motif and get a preview. The exact positions of the nails and the course of the thread is only determined later during production, so the configurator only provides an approximate preview. For photos, this preview comes very close to the final image and from a distance of approx. 2-3 meters you can hardly see any difference between the configurator preview and the real thread image.
Deviations can occur, especially with very small details such as small letters or thin lines of a logo. If these fine details are important to you, please send us the image in advance for review via the support chat (icon below left).
If you book the graphic designer option, we will always send you an exact preview of your thread picture for approval in advance, in which each nail and the exact course of the thread can be seen. In addition, someone from our graphic design team will edit your image according to your wishes and can, for example, remove the background or change the content of the image and add text.
What are the requirements for the source image?
A resolution of around 1200x800 pixels is usually sufficient; for panoramic formats around 1500 pixels on the long side are sufficient for very good quality. If you are unsure, you can send us the image in advance for review via the support chat (icon at the bottom left).
Images in standard and large format are automatically cropped by the configurator to an aspect ratio of 2:3, panoramas to around 16:7.
The files must be uploaded as .jpg or .png and must be a maximum of 20 megabytes in size and have a maximum of 20 megapixels.
If you want there to be no nails in the background, for example, this area of the image must be made transparent. This can be done in most image editing programs (such as Photoshop) by masking and removing these areas (alpha channel). The image must then be saved and uploaded as a .png file.
If the image consists of individual elements, such as the letters of a logo, and also has a transparent background, the individual elements are later connected with threads. Otherwise we cannot make the motif from a single thread. The configurator cannot show where these connecting lines are.
It doesn't matter if the image is uploaded in black and white or color, we will convert it automatically.
How well can faces be recognized on the thread picture?
The nails are always about 5 mm apart. The more faces there are in a picture and the smaller the faces are, the fewer nails that can be used per face.
In order for the faces to be easily recognizable, a maximum of 2-3 faces should be shown in a standard format image, around 4-5 faces in a large format image and around 7-8 faces side by side in a panorama. For the best recognizability, the faces should be as close together as possible and the image section should concentrate on the faces as much as possible.
In the case of photos with high-contrast faces, more faces can sometimes be shown, which are still easy to recognize. The configurator shows a good preview of what will later be visible in the thread image. However, this does not reflect the subsequent thread pattern 100% correctly.
If you are unsure whether your picture is suitable as a thread picture, you are welcome to send it to us via the support chat (chat icon below left), we will take a look at it and write you our opinion on it.
FAQ - Shipping
Frequently asked questions about shipping
How long does delivery take?
The configurator always shows the currently valid shipping date for individual motifs. We usually have ready-made motifs in stock and can send them within a few days. You can find more details under delivery time and shipping.
I need the picture very urgently!
If things have to be done quickly, such as for weddings or birthdays, our configurator offers express production. Then we take it to our night shifts to be able to finish it within a few days. The shipping date that is valid in this case is then displayed directly in the configurator. If you need the picture even faster, please write to us via the chat (bottom left). We try to make everything possible!
How is the thread picture packaged?
Each thread picture is individually packed by us. We have developed special shipping packaging that is tailored to the thread pattern with millimeter precision so that nothing can slip or press on the nails during transport. The packaging is made of very stable cardboard and 100% plastic-free.
FAQ - Hanging
Frequently asked questions about hanging
What is the ideal viewing distance?
If you stand directly in front of the picture, you will mainly notice the nails and the thread. If you want to perceive the subject as a whole, you should stay at a distance of about 2-3 meters. From a distance of 4 meters, most people can no longer see threads and take the picture for a black and white photo.
The nail density is the same for all formats, ie we always use the same number of nails per area. The viewing distance from which the motif looks like a black and white photo is therefore independent of the image size.
Therefore, the larger the format, the greater the number of nails used and the length of the thread. As a result, the image appears sharper and details can be reproduced better.
How should the picture be lit?
Diffuse light directly from the front is best. Then the threads cast a natural, soft shadow on the background. The details then look most realistic. This means that the ideal place to hang it up is opposite a window, for example. If this is not possible, the picture should be illuminated from several directions to avoid strong shadows.
If the thread image is illuminated with a single spot, the threads cast sharp shadows on the plate, which means that contrasting lines in the image can have double contours and the thread image appears somewhat blurred. This can look very interesting with abstract motifs, with faces it makes the facial features a little harder to recognize. However, if the faces are large enough, they are still easily recognizable.
Are the pictures framed?
All pictures always come with a matt black aluminum frame. The frame has two integrated hanging rails on the back, with which you can hang the picture directly on nails or screws at two slightly different heights.
How are the pictures hung?
The pictures can be hung directly on nails or screws using the hanging rails integrated in the frame. Each picture comes with two nails, two screws and two dowels. However, you can also use your own nails or screws.
